The Joint Services Council for solid waste management in partnership with Sky Advertising, the Birzeit University, and in collaboration with the Directorate of Police in Ramallah, launched the second phase of the campaign "Clean Homeland", which aims to increase environmental awareness among citizens towards a cleaner city and protecting the surrounding environment.

The volunteers, who were all students from the BZU, gathered in front of Qaser Al- Hamra Al Ersal Street, heading to the stations of public transport in the city of Ramallah and Al-Bireh, giving drivers environmental friendly cloth bags which are specially made for cars to encourage drivers not to throw trash out of the car windows in the Street and maintain the streets of our city clean by putting trash in the bag.

Volunteers targeted the three main public transportation stations, Betounia station, Birzeit station and the main station in the city center of Ramallah. At all three bus stations they distributed more than 900 car bags to the service drivers and delivered an important message with each bag which implies keeping our city streets clean, students also distributed stickers that shows displays “Keep clean”.  This campaign had a positive impact, drivers were more than happy to keep the bags and use them.
