Four agreements were signed at the headquarters of the Joint Service Council for solid waste management (JSC) in Ramallah on 29/4/2018 for the supply of equipment and containers for the benefit of the Joint Service Council through the grant from the German Development Bank (KFW) to develop waste management in the governorate. Eng. Muneef Treish, Chairman of the Board of the Council, initiated the signing on behalf of the JSC in the presence of the JSC staff with the representatives of the supplying companies.
These agreements included the following:
- Signing an agreement for the supply of 4000 plastic containers of a size of 770 liters with "Excellence" Company with a value of 712,000 Euros. The distribution will be distributed to the member local governmental units (LGUs) within two months from the date of signing the agreement.
- Signing a supply agreement for 7300 plastic containers with a capacity of 240 liters and 162 street cleaning vehicles with "Al-Kaibni" Company for a total value of 433,580 Euros, which will be distributed member (LGUs) within two months from the date of signing the agreement.
- Signing of the agreement for the supply of 3 waste disposal vehicles, 6 pistons and 6 waste collection vehicles with the "Al Burj" company with a value of 1,223,150 euros.
- Signing a contract for the supply of a bulldozer and a Bobcat with the "Palestinian Equipment Company" for 188,060 Euro.
It should be noted that all these agreements have been made through public tenders according to the standard regulations.
The supply of the equipments mentioned above is considered to be the first step towards implementing the solid waste strategy which is approved by the Ministry of Local Government, which includes the collection of waste by the Joint Services councils in all local governemnts in Ramallah and Al-Bireh Governorate.
The council is scheduled to start with the solid waste collection services in three neighborhoods in the major cities (Ramallah, Al-Bireh and Beitunia) within the middle of the current year upon receipt of the mechanisms.
