Field visit of random dumps in the Western Region in Ramallah Governerate

Joint Services Council for Solid Waste Management in the Ramallah and Al Bireh Governorate represented by its   Technical Manager Eng. Said Alhudairi participated in a field visit of random dumpsites in the western region of the governorate. The visit was conducted  in the presence of the Governor of Ramallah and Al Bireh Dr. Leila Ghannam, Head of Environment Quality Authority Eng. Adala Al Ateereh, representative of the Ministry of Health a representative of the Ministry of Local Government , the commander of the Ramallah district police, civil defense and representatives of the local governments in the region.


The attendees held a meeting to discuss the general situation of random dumps in the region , particularly landfills that allow the entry of Israeli waste in informal ways . Dr.Leila Ghannam confirmed on the urgent need to get rid of the dangerous phenomenon of allowing the Israeli waste to enter the Palestinian lands, because its serious threat to public health in the region and the danger of this waste outweighs the risk of a bullet, she also pointed to the need to take legal action against the law violators.


On the other side,  EngAdalah Al-Ateereh persisted on the importance seriously applying the environmental law that clearly states the non-use of random dumps and prohibits Israeli waste reception , and maximum penalties should be taken against violators either by  forcing them to pay  forfeits or imprisonment for a period of up to twenty years .


Following the meeting the attendee went for a field tour in a random dumpsite that allows the Israeli waste to enter the Palestenian lands in Shiqba village.
